Patterned Snowflake Biscuits

Just like real snowflakes, the wonderful thing about these Patterned Snowflake Biscuits is that each one looks unique! Featuring various shades of blue icing, these whimsical winter biscuits make a lovely addition to any holiday dessert spread.

Perfect for serving with tea or cocoa, these snowflake biscuits will certainly warm the soul during those cold winter nights.

Ingredients:

  • Favourite roll-out biscuit dough recipe
  • Meringue Powder
  • Sky Blue Icing Colour*
  • Ivory Icing Colour*

Supplies:

  • Rolling Pin
  • Comfort-Grip Snowflake Biscuit Cutter
  • Medium Biscuit Tin
  • Cooling Rack
  • Disposable Decorating Bags
  • Round Decorating Tip 3 (4 needed)
  • Toothpick

Instructions:

  1. Make biscuits. Prepare dough following recipe instructions. Using snowflake cutter, cut out biscuits. Bake and cool.
  2. Decorate biscuits. For light centre biscuits: Prepare royal icing following recipe instructions on Meringue Powder package.
  3. Divide into four portions. Using icing colours, tint icing four shades of blue, from light to dark. Reserve some full-strength icing in darkest shade. Thin remaining icings.
  4. Prepare decorating bag with tip 3 and full-strength dark blue icing.
  5. Outline biscuits. Prepare second decorating bag with tip 3 and darkest shade of
    thinned icing. Pipe outline inside first outline.
  6. Repeat with thinned icing in second darkest shade, second lightest shade and lightest shade of icing.
  7. Using a toothpick,immediately drag icing from arms of snowflake towards centre. Let dry 8 to 10 hours. Reserve remaining icing.
  8. For dark centre biscuits: Follow instructions for light centre biscuits, stopping after
    piping lightest shade of icing. After completing lightest outline, repeat outlining again, starting with the darkest icing and working towards the lightest. Using a toothpick, immediately drag icing from arms of snowflake towards centre.
  9. Let dry 8 to 10 hours.
