Toffee Apples

How much fun will you have making these and serving them to your friends - get creative with your decorations and remember it is all about having fun!

These look super cute if you make them with crab apples and use them to decorate a cake!

  • 400g castor sugar
  • 100ml water
  • 1 tsp white wine vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup or glucose
  • 10 small eating apples, quickly covered in boiling water and dried.
  • Sprinkles to decorate, funny eyes, teeth and lips and melted candy melts
  • Parchment lined tray

Step 1

Twist a cookie stick into the top of the apple.

Step 2

Place the sugar and water into the pan (brush down the sides) and heat until the sugar dissolves.

Step 3

Add the syrup and vinegar and gently shake the pan to mix.

Step 4

On a low heat bring the temperature of the caramel to 150C (hard crack stage).

Step 5

Dip and rotate each apple into the caramel to coat. Gently shake off excess caramel. Decorate as desired. Leave to set on the tray.
