  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 225g butter, (room temperature)
  • 225g granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 250g Self Raising flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder

Step 1

  • Preheat oven to 175°C.
  • Spray tins with vegetable pan spray, or use Cake Release.

Step 2

  • In mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Mix in vanilla extract
  • Mix flour with baking powder
  • Add flour mixture in batches and mix well.
  • Pour into prepared tins

Step 3

  • Refer to baking chart, for baking times and temperatures for specific tins.
  • For an 8 inch round tin, bake 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.

Step 4

  • Cool 10 minutes in tin.
  • Loosen sides and remove.
  • Cool completely before decorating.
